Italy is on every traveler’s bucket list of places to visit.
And on the minds of our visitors there is a romantic idea that sees the opportunity to enjoy all the historical heritage of which we are depositories while being in Italy.
There is also the desire to see a slower lifestyle and as if it came from the past.
Images described in Fellini’s films.
It is difficult to describe Italy from within.
Allow me to take advantage of an article wrote by an Irish journalist, Dee Finnerty, who has personally described her visit to Rimini on the “Irish Independent”.
The journalist has been enchanted by the lifestyle of our city.
She advised to let go of the big cities like Bologna and Florence, now packed with tourists.
It was enough for her to enter by the Arch of Augustus in Rimini to see people moving by bicycle with shopping bags or animals on a leash.
There is a desire to see the city in its simplicity.
Enjoy an ice-cream walking along the “Corso d’Augusto” (the main street of Rimini’s city centre) or admire the wonderful murals about Federico Fellini from Borgo San Giuliano.
The article continues by advising its compatriots to use Rimini as a “base” for a more complete journey.
For example, go to San Marino to learn about the history of the smallest republic in the world or go shopping in the many stocked shopping centers.
Visit Ravenna and learn about he art of the Byzantine era.
What about going to the backcountry to visit the cellars of Valmarecchia and see how Sangiovese is made.
The most famous of our wines.
How can we forget about mentioning the delicious meals of the Italian cuisine.
Eating strozzapreti prepared by our “azdore” (our grandmas from Romagna) or a thin piadina from Rimini.
Your trip to Italy still has a romantic flavour and Rimini can still tell the stories of many people and things.
Immersed in an increasingly green and sustainable context.
Living in Rimini is enjoyable.
Now I’ll tell you an anecdote that confirms what I just said.
A few years ago I was managing an hotel where I used to have the team of Rimini Calcio as guests.
Those were the years where the team played in Serie B and there were players who had a good career in Serie A.
Floccari, Ricchiuti, just to name a few.
Many of those players then had to change cities for business needs.
But at the end of their career many of them decided to come back and live in Rimini.
They brought their families and their children and decided to take up residence here.
Rimini maintains the original taste of the city with its historic centre.
And in addition it has the sea with all that follows.
For example, you can go for a pleasant walk barefoot on the sand during the spring.
Or let yourself be captured by the melancholy of the sea in winter.
The best way to help you understand all I mentioned before is to have a look at some shots that my friend Flavio Ricci took; he also has immortalized in a clear way what Rimini is.
They are shots that tell the seasonality of the city and its everyday life.
Now I do not presume to make you move in Rimini, but if you feel like coming back, take a look at our offers here:
See you in Rimini.
