When you booked your stay in Rimini I am sure, that you anticipated eating well prepared piadina at some point.
Am I wrong?
I don’t think so, and you know that too.!
Piadina is to Rimini as Pizza is to Naples.
It is so widespread now that you can find it in any supermarket. The truth is that in Rimini it is different from all the other places in Romagna.
In Rimini it is ultra-thin. In Cesena, a town only 15 km away, it is thick and there is a substantial difference with the one made in Rimini.
It looks like a totally different thing.
A Rimini local doesn’t eat piada from Cesena and vice versa.
It’s a matter of taste, but above all, it’s a matter of tradition.
But now, let’s get to the core of this post, namely where do you have to go to eat the best piada in Rimini.
• La Casina del Bosco
• Dalla Lella
• Nud e Crud
• Dalla Ilde
Except for Dalla Ilde which is situated on the outskirts of Rimini, the other ones are all places that you can reach on foot or with one of The Savoia Hotel bicycles.
“La Casina Del Bosco” is at the start of Via Vespucci.
It’s an outside restaurant and it’s open from March to late October.
This is my favorite one and I often go there with my family.
A great piadina complimented with produce from high quality suppliers like San Marino’s cooked ham.
The service is per perfectly slick and within just a few minutes on placing your order, you will receive your piadina.
All thanks to Aris and his team.
At only a few hundred metres from Savoia Hotel, Lella’s can be found in Piazzale Kennedy.
In reality their original restaurant is in Via Covignano, but for you it’s easier to visit the one near to us and the sea.
Lella is the original owner. She is a typical “azdora”. (owner of the kitchen.) Marina, her daughter, inherited the restaurants and continues to provide the same service with the same passion.
I would say, its typical to take away their piada and it’s extremely popular.
Nud e Crud
You can find this near Tiberius’ bridge, next to trattoria “la Marianna”.
It is managed by the same Amorimini’s management.
A good piadina in the picturesque place of San Giuliano’s borough.
A nice way to conclude a cycle ride in our historic centre.
Historic restaurant on Covignano’s hill. As I mentioned, it’s the furthest of the 5 restaurants mentioned.
But I tell you about it because many Rimini residents go there.
At least 2 or 3 times during the summer we also go there. Their specialty is piadina with cured ham and melted cheese.
During the 80’s and the 90’s it had its best years because in that area there used to be 2 historic nightclubs, “Paradiso” and “Bandiera Gialla”.
A new and welcome change in the last years.
It can be found at the Darsena (Marina), and you can also reach there by bike.
I suggest that you go there around 7 – 8 p.m., because this is a unique area where you can see the boats and the sun’s reflection on the sea.
Davide and his staff will greet you with a local welcome of real Rimini residents.
A smile and a lot of kindness.
I suggest you to try the piadina with “sardoncini”. (sardines)
It’s their specialty and it’s a typical Rimini dish.
All this talk about piadina is making me hungry.
I hope this information is of value to you.
I look forward to welcoming you to Rimini, very soon.
